Handpan

The handpan is a young musical instrument that emerged in 2000. It was developed as an evolution of the steelpan, a percussion instrument created in Trinidad and Tobago. The handpan combines elements of the drums, steelpan and other percussion instruments to create a unique, immersive sound, called 3D sound.

The handpan was created by the Swiss Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer. This instrument immediately captured the world's attention with its heavenly sound and unique appearance.

Today, the handpan is used in a wide variety of musical genres, from ambient and meditative music to modern music such as jazz, electronic music, rap, world music, etc.

In addition to its sonic beauty, the handpan has also found its place in wellness and meditation practices, as its calming and resonant sound helps induce states of relaxation and mindfulness. In short, the handpan is not only a musical instrument, but also a tool for artistic expression and personal well-being. 

The lessons are for all ages. The teaching method is based on numbers, so knowledge of musical notes is not necessary. We will learn the different basic and advanced hitting techniques. Different rhythms (binary, ternary, irregular...) Composition of rhythmic and melodic patterns. How to improvise and how to play play in a group. 

The teacher can help you with purchasing and renting an instrument and how to practice in your free time.
